The Jewish historic camp ''Shorashim – Roots and Future of Ukrainian Jews'' has begun its work of July 4, 2011. ''Shorashim-2011'' was opened with the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (General Council Chairman Josef Zisels), the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAAD) Ukraine, the Jewish Agency For Israel (JAFI), and the Genesis Foundation. 117 children from four countries – Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and Israel – are taking part in the Shorashim camp this year. This year, the camp is taking place in the old Ukrainian city of Mulkachevot, at the “Latoritsa” rest home.
The “Freilehe Kinder children's creative and educational camp-festival took place on July 1-5 in Karaganda (Republic of Kazakhstan) with the organizational aid of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. The festival, sponsored by the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, gathered over 180 children from all over Kazakhstan.
In Moscow, representatives of the leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, together with their colleagues from the Federal Jewish National Cultural Autonomy and the Federation of Jewish Organizations (VAAD) Russia, held a working meeting with the delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), headed by Executive Director David Harris and the Head of the Russian Department Sam Kliger.
The EAJC Presidium is extremely saddened by the fact that David Harris' topical article ''The Hamas – Oops, Gaza – Flotilla,'' which holds an assessment of the situation around the second ''freedom flotilla'' from the perspective of Jewish communities, was seen to be ''unfit'' for an influential U.S. news site.
The Secretary General of the Council of Rabbis of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Head Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldshmidt was elected the new head of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER). Rabbi Goldshmidt became the fourth president in this influential religious organization's 54-year-long history.having succeeded former Head Rabbi of France Josef Sitruk.
On the 25-26th of June, the selection seminar for camp councillors of the first Moldova ''Roots Of Tolerance'' International Children's Camps. 25 candidates from Moldovan national communities participated in the seminar. Experienced councillors of the other ''Roots of Tolerance'' camp, coaches, and psychologists all shared their experience with holding similar camps.
On the 21st of June, as part of the activity of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) business community ''Congress College,'' a meeting of the Board on Business Safety and Defense took place. The topic of the meeting was informational safety.
A delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress leadership, headed by EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich, is participating in the 3rd Presidential Conference ''Facing Tomorrow,'' which is taking place in Jerusalem under the aegis of the President of the State of Israel Shimon Peres.
On the 20th of June, 2011, at the Jerusalem meeting of the EAJC Presidium, Alexander Mashkevich announced his intent to leave the post of the organization's President in the nearest time.
