                  Milton Shapiro, former president of the Jewish National Fund, died at the age of 81.

                  Milton S. Shapiro, a lawyer who actively supported Israel, died Friday in his home in Manhattan. He was 81. The cause of death was cancer, his son Philip said.
                  Mr. Shapiro was chairman of the American Zionist Fund from 1982 to 1985, and president of the Zionist Organization of America from 1986 to 1989. From 1993 to 1997, he was national president of the Jewish National Fund and helped more than a million Soviet Jews settle in Israel, the fund said. He was also a member of the board of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
