                  01.10.2004

Uri Kalman and Eli Kara, the two Mossad agents arrested by New Zealand authorities have been released from prison, after serving their sentences. They were taken to the airport and are on their way home.
The scandal broke several months ago, when the two men were apprehended by the New Zealand authorities while trying to obtain a New Zealand passport by posing as a mentally challenged New Zealand citizen. A third agent involved, Zeev Barkan, was never caught.
According to various reports, the agents were caught due to their very un-Kiwilike American-accented English, which made them extremely conspicuous and aroused suspicions.
They were tried, and sentenced to 6 months in jail. The affair caused a major diplomatic row between Jerusalem and Wellington, and sparked a series of anti-Semitic attacks in New Zealand.
