A major grant by the Pratt Foundation is expected to help launch a new graduate program in Holocaust studies at Deakin University.
The grant was made to the Jewish Holocaust Museum and Research Centre Foundation, which is working with the university to develop the new course.
The announcement of the grant was made by Jeanne Pratt at a function at the centre last Sunday, which she attended with her husband Richard.
It will also help fund the transcribing and cataloguing of hundreds of hours of Holocaust testimony held at the centre.
While the exact amount of the grant has not been disclosed, the Holocaust Centre Foundation has so far raised $3.8 million out of its $7-million target, foundation chairperson Helen Mahemoff said this week.
