                  Leibler leaves WJC amid acrimony

                  Australian-born Jewish leader Isi Leibler has resigned his post as senior vice-president of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) amid bitter criticism of his allegations of financial misconduct within the organisation.
                  In an emotional and often raucous meeting of the WJC assembly held in Brussels this week, Leibler, a former president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, announced his resignation after his name had been excluded from a list of agreed candidates for re-election.
