24.01.2007 ORT represents the new project "Hopes and disappointments. Creation of Jewish autonomies in Soviet Union. Bright pages of ORT history".
Two years of "ORT St.-Petersburg"'s work on the project have come to the end with creation of a picture album and the multimedia compact disc, devoted to dramatic, full of expectations and disappointments period for Soviet Jewry in 1924-1938. The picture album and compact disk are published in Russian and English languages. Experts of the Center "Jewish Studies of St.-Petersburg" and Multimedia-studio "March" have also participated in the project.
The album is based on materials from exhibition «Red Zion», organized by the Center «Jewish Studies of St.-Petersburg», collection of photos of Russian Ethnographic museum, and also results of documentation research on life of Jews and ORT activity in the USSR, performed in ORT archives in London and archives of St.-Petersburg.
The disk contains a computer graphics film based on original archival photos, a virtual exhibition and electronic catalogue of photos. In a basis of film original archival photos have laid down. The original music written by Petersburg composer Evgen Khazdan specially for the film, helps to feel an atmosphere and a rhythm of that period.
The album and compact disc were published in Russian and English languages in Finnish printing house Bookwell. The initiator and the sponsor of the project are World ORT and sir Moris Khatter, president of World ORT.
