Bucharest Central Synagogue opened after renovation.

                  22.02.2007

Bucharest Central Synagogue has opened after renovation. The gala ceremony, which has brought together several hundreds community members, was led by Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Amar.
This grand opening has become the most prominent event for Romanian Jews after the end of World War II. During a procession at the inauguration ceremony Torah rolls donated by Romanian businessmen were set back into their place in the synagogue. One of the rolls is dedicated to 400 thousand Romanian Jews killed in Romania and by Nazis. Last letters in the Torah rolls have been written by Rabbi Shlomo Amar.
