Yakov Basin elected member of the steering committee of the "Association of free Belarus historians".
18.04.2007 Yakov Basin, deputy head of the Union of Belarussian Jewish organization and communities, was elected member of the steering committee of the "Association of free Belarus historians". The Steering committee was created in march 2007 after retirement of a number of famous historians from the National academy of sciences of Belarus.
The committee is aimed at preservation of Belarussian school of historical sciences brought up in 80s-90s and following democratic principles. The association includes two Jewish historians: Mr. Basin and Mr.Yoffe, who have made a lot of studies on jewish history in Belarus. Members of the association hope that it would help to continue their work and protect from state officials' abused discretion.
