International organization Joint Distribution Committee engaged in help to the Jewish communities of all world, plans to distribute magnetic cards among 200 thousand elderly Jews of the former USSR for they can get charitable contributions to buy food stuffs. The only restriction is that cards do not allow to buy cigarette, vodka and pork products.
Each card "is charged" for the sum from 20 up to 40 dollars a month - depending on a level of poverty of the owner. Use of modern technology allows Joint to get rid of long queues for products in special charity centers. Henceforth pensioners can buy all necessary stuff in the nearest supermarket. Each transaction is automatically brought in a database of the organization so Joint will be able to keep the track of all transactions.
At present "clever" cards have been distributed among 18 thousand Jews of the former USSR. At a following stage "credit card" will be handed over to 205 thousand elderly Jews of the former USSR to which JDC helps.
