Israeli police open investigation against ambassador to Hungary.

                  13.08.2007

Israeli police are investigating Israel's ambassador to Hungary on suspicion he took bribes on the job, a spokeswoman said Sunday.
David Admon allegedly used his position to carry out private business ventures in Hungary and used his connections to open doors for his son and Israeli businesspeople in exchange for money, the Yediot Ahronot newspaper reported Sunday.
Michal Haim, a police spokeswoman, would only confirm an investigation had been launched against Admon on suspicion he took kickbacks.
A Foreign Ministry official confirmed Admon was under police investigation but would not give details. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case with the press.
