Terror Alert Countermanded in Tel-Aviv.
02.12.2008 On December 2 at 6:30 am, a terrorist alert was announced in Tel-Aviv. Security forces received a pinpoint warning about the terrorist act in preparation. For that reason the police and frontier services reinforced security measures. Inspection stations were placed at the entrances to Tel-Aviv, and many busy roads were blocked for a long time.
Policemen and frontier troops in Tel-Aviv checked suspicious cars and examined all "foreign" - especially Palestinian – workers.
Around 11:30 am, the leadership of security forces countermanded the terror alert in Tel-Aviv. There had been no terror alerts in Tel-Aviv since February 2007. The last terrorist act in Tel-Aviv was committed on April 17, 2006. 11 people were killed.
The General Security Service (SHABAK) has not provided any additional comments concerning the character of the warning and the reasons for countermanding the alert. It is possible that they were able to arrest the terrorist.
