Wounded Russians Saved by Georgian Military Instructors.

                  20.12.2008

Two former instructors of the special rescue unit of the Georgian Army took part in the rescue operations to save the Russians injured in a road accident near Eilat. This was reported by the IzRus portal with reference to one of the servicemen of the IDF task force-669.
They were two young reservists of the task force-669, participants in the Second Lebanon War (2006). In early 2008 they were part of a group of Israeli instructors, who trained soldiers in a corresponding unit of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. They held a contract in this Southern Caucasus state under the command of the former task force-669 commander, lieutenant colonel in reserve Tuvia Kastenbaum. This group of Israeli specialists left Georgia in July, shortly before the beginning of the armed conflict in South Ossetia.
On Tuesday, December 16, the servicemen of the IDF task force-669, both conscripts and reservists, were among the first to arrive on helicopters to the place of Eilat tragedy. They took an active part in giving the wounded first aid and transporting them to hospitals.
Task force-669, the rescue unit of the IDF Air Force is one of the four elite units of Israeli Army. It specializes in rescue operations and giving first aid to the military and civilians, particularlu in areas difficult to reach .
