New Issue of Hebrew University Bulletin

On the Chanukah threshold a new, thirteenth, issue of the Hebrew University Bulletin has been published. The Bulletin is the only academic publication on Jewish studies in Russian.
The magazine is the press organ of the Jerusalem Hebrew University Chais Center for Jewish Studies in Russian and the Jewish studies department of the Institute for Asian and African Studies of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The magazine contains research by Israeli and Russian scientists.
Liubov Chernina, a post-graduate student of the Jewish History department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, published an article on economic factors of the anti-Jewish policy of Visigothic kings in early Medieval Spain in the VI-VII centuries.
Olga Minkina, a Ph.D in History from the European University of Saint Petersburg, wrote about the interrelations of Jewish enlighteners and state authorities in the Russian Empire of the late XVIII and early XIX centuries.
Dr. Elena Rimon from Ariel University Centre dedicated her article to an important period in the development of Hebrew prose of the XIX century - the adventure novels by Mapu, Smolenskina and other writers.
A number of modern Israeli politics issues are discussed in an article by Dr. Vladimir (Zeev) Khanin from the Bar Ilan University. He analyzes the activity of "Russian lobby" in the Israeli politics of 1996 - 2006.
The magazine also published several translations from Hebrew - articles on Biblical and Rabbinic texts, and its traditional short review of the books on Judaica which have been recently published.
