Mayor of Rome supports Jewish community Initiative to Grant Honorary Citizenship to Captured Israeli Soldier Gilad Shalit.

During the Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony, the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno announced that he absolutely agreed to the proposal put forward by Rome Jewish Community President Riccardo Pacifici, which consisted of granting honorary citizenship to the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
"This is an excellent idea and it will show1 the solidarity of Roman citizens with the Jewish community", - said the Mayor while the participants of Chanukah celebration cheered.
Gilad Shalit is now on his third year in captivity of the Hamas Islamic terrorist group. Terrorists still do not allow international organizations to visit the captive Israeli soldier.
