Jewish Community of Belgium Prepares Lawsuit Against Flemish TV Channel With Antisemitic Bias
29.12.2008
Only a few weeks ago, the leadership of the VRT channel intended to show a series of programs on Adolf Hitler's gastronomic preferences, and only public denunciation forced VRT to stop the project.
But a new scandal is on the rise because of the anti-Semitic jokes of stand-up comic Philip Gyubelsa, which accused the Jewish community of excessive sensitivity to the subject of Nazism.
"A new Holocaust cannot happen nowadays because Jews have become much smarter and stronger. They have spread across the world, most of them live in the US, and one cannot send them in echelons back to Germany," laughs the anti-Semitic comic actor.
The CCOJB, a Jewish umbrella organization in Belgium, said it was planning legal steps against the TV channel and asked the Flemish authorities to ban anti-Semitic programs.
