Eight Jewish women stormed into the building of Israeli consulate in Toronto in the evening of January 7 and refused to leave it.
The women, all of them of Jewish origin, claimed this was a protest against the IDF operation in Gaza. As reported by TTV local television company, the unsanctioned meeting was stopped only after the police interfered. One of the meting participants has both Canadian and Israeli citizenship.
The group's spokesperson Miriam Garfinkel said the action was held on behalf of the Jewish-Palestinian union based in Montreal.
"We protest against the barbarian Israeli policy and the Canadian government's refusal to condemn it," said Garfinkel.
"We do not want Canadians to believe that all local Jews support Israel, which is why our target was the Israeli consulate. Now all the local citizens know that there are Jews in Canada who do not support Israel's violence and apartheid policies," added the protestants.
It should be mentioned that since the beginning of Cast lead operation, heated anti-Israeli demonstrations have been held in front of the consulate in Toronto.
