                  Or Zion Moscow Department Opened

                  On February 15, in Moscow, the opening of its Moscow office of the International Zionist Organization "Or Zion" ("The Light of Zion") took place at the founding congress of "Or Zion" in the Russian Jewish Congress building. By the decision of the Congress, the Israeli scholar Levi Sheptovitsky was elected President. The purpose of the organization, according to the intent of the participants, should be the "revival, development and implementation of the ideas of Zionism."
                  The congress was attended by representatives of various Jewish organizations, including Rabbi David Yushuvaev, Shlomo Zelig Avrasin and others, who said the words of support for this initiative. The activists were also addressed by the well-known Zionist and religious leader Pinchas Polonsky.
                  During the congress, the "Or Zion" leaders presented a program of the organization, which consisted of the following items:
                  - To1 ensure cooperation between the Jews of Israel and the Diaspora, religious and secular Jews, to provide assistance to repatriates in the absorption.
                  - To aid the awakening of the Jewish identity, the study of the history of the Jewish people, its traditions, culture, religion, discussion clubs.
                  - To help the physical education of Jewish youth (sports and group recreational activities). To ensure safety at public events.
                  - To make people aware of the ideas of Zionism, to inform the Jewish diaspora about life in modern Israel and to inform Israelis about the life of the Jewish diaspora of various countries, giving people the true vision of the situation in the Middle East.
                  - To engage in anti-defamation activities aimed at combating the new form of anti-Semitism - anti-Zionism.
