Punishment for Using Nazi Symbols to Be Introduced in Belarus

In Belarus, a draft law has been developed that is aimed at increasing responsibility measures for the promotion of violence, in particular for the use of Nazi symbols.
The Code of Administrative Offenses is to be extended by two articles. In particular, paragraph 10 of Article 17 imposes liability for trafficking of Nazi symbols and attributes.
They include a flag, anthem, emblems, ties of the Nazi Party of Germany during the Second World War, as reported by BelaPAN.
The penalty is a fine and confiscation of the subject of administrative offense, a person can be put under administrative arrest.
There is also a fine up to 10 basic units for individuals, 50 for individual entrepreneurs, 200 for legal persons.
The use of such attributes in the arts (for example, in theater or film) does not entail administrative liability.
Paragraph 11 of article 17 of the Administrative Code imposes liability for trafficking of extremist materials in the case when the act is not subject to criminal liability.
Definition of extremist materials is given in the existing law on combating extremism.
An article in the Administrative Code provides for liability in the form of fines with confiscation of the subject of an administrative offense and arrest for the individual.
However, it introduces much stiffer penalties than the previous articles: the fine for individuals from 10 to 50 basic units, for individual entrepreneurs - from 50 to 100 units, for legal entities - from 100 to 500 units.
