04.03.2009
In Adygea, the editor of Zakubanje newspaper is charged with committing acts aimed at inciting hatred and enmity, as well as humiliating the dignity of a group of persons according to the nationality criterion with the help of mass media.
"In violation of federal law prohibiting the dissemination of extremist materials through mass media and their extremist activities in the Russian Federation in order to humiliate the national dignity of persons of non-Russian origin in May 2007, he published in the newspaper a poem 'Be Russian!'. 2 thousand copies of this newspaper were then published and issued, at least 896 of which were later distributed on the territory of the Republic of Adygea," noted the press service of the investigation department of the Investigation Committee of the Public Prosecution Office of the Russian Federation in Adygea.
According to the interlocutor, the poem by E. Skvoreshny includes a negative assessment of the Jews by attributing to them actions that have very negative consequences, negative comments about non-Russians in general, and a hidden message to the Russian people that is clear to any Russian language speaker, regardless of whether he has knowledge in linguistics.
"The investigation's charge is based on the findings of the linguistic examination of the case. The investigation of the criminal case is currently at a final stage," noted the press service of the investigation department of the Russian Federation Investigation Committee of the Public Prosecution Office of the Russian Federation in Adygea.
"Indeed, the poem by the famous in Russia poet Yevgeny Skvoreshny 'Be Russian!' was published in Zakubanje newspaper. His works were published in renowned journals of Novosibirsk. This poem is reproduced from the newspaper 'News of the Slavs of Southern Russia', while according to the law on mass media, the newspaper editorial office is not responsible for reprinting materials from other media. Moreover, the poem is not on the list of literature recognized as extremist by the court." Karatayev noted earlier.
