Chief Rabbinate denies allowing non-Jews to marry in civil ceremonies

The Chief Rabbinate on Friday denied making a decision in a meeting the previous night to allow non-Jews to marry in civil ceremonies in Israel.
At the start of next week, the Chief Rabbinate will discuss its stance with religious parties, and if the party representatives accept the position, the rabbinate will request a meeting with Israel Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman, a strong proponent of civil unions, in a bid for an agreement between the two sides.
