Last Friday, a meeting of the National Council of Broadcasting (NCB) was held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
As reported by the Jewish News Agency with reference to Azerbaijan's NCB, on the basis of meeting a decision was made to grant a license to an international TV channel, in programs of which several languages will be used.
As the Vice-President of the Association of Small Peoples of Azerbaijan, the curator of the cultural programs of the Association, the famous Jewish historian Moshe Becker pointed out, the establishment of an international TV channel on the country's television was well received by all Association members.
"The members of our association have already expressed the initiative to prepare and broadcast TV programs, telling about the history, traditions, culture of small nations of Azerbaijan, their current problems, successes and achievements.
These stories should be told in the languages of these peoples - Russian, Lezgin, Hebrew, hill-Jewish, Ukrainian, Tatar and others," emphasized Moshe Becker in his interview to the Jewish News Agency.
According to the Jewish historian, a successful implementation of the Association's initiatives on the new international television channel requires financial support of these projects by the fellow countrymen, who have succeeded in business and are ready to support the establishment of cultural and educational programs in the languages of small peoples of the republic.
"The Association looks forward to receiving the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan in this case with its great cultural, historical, and also political importance," said Moshe Becker.
