Pesach Celebrations together in Chisinau
19.03.2009
The Organizing Committee of the Jewish community decided to use a proven practice: feast of Pesach tickets are to be made into an honorary purchase for the wealthy members of the community.
It is already tradition that, having decided to celebrate Pesach all together in one of the most luxurious banquet halls of the Leo Grande hotel in the capital, the organizing committee makes the entrance free for the ordinary members of the community (in the first place - for pensioners and the poor).
But the the tickets for businessmen and influential members of the community are not free, although a purchased tickets allows them to bring three friends, relatives or acquaintances for one ticket).
The tickets are divided into four categories - platinum (the cost of one ticket is more than a thousand dollars, converted from local currency – the lei), gold, silver and bronze (500, 300 and 150 dollars respectively).
Those who wish to declare their "holiday contribution" can allow the publication of the number and kind of the purchased tickets in the local Jewish media. It is not to prohibited to remain incognito either.
In any case, celebration organizing committee publishes a financial report on the funds received and spent.
An interesting practice of such "contributions" for the main Jewish holiday has existed for three years already and gives excellent results: Pesach is widely celebrated, around the rich festive tables, with a concert program, gifts and entertainment, and most importantly – it is an opportunity to distribute free tickets to dozens of participants of the Easter evening, who have forgotten what a restaurant and a massive celebration are.
