Khabarovsk: Court Proceedings Against Members of Extremist Community Begun

On March 24, the Central District Court of Khabarovsk began law proceedings on the case of the members of an extremist community. As reported by the correspondent of REGNUM news agency with reference to the source in the press service of the Federal Security Service department of Khabarovsk region, a criminal case under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code ("Public calls for the execution of extremist activity") was initiated by the investigation department of the FSS of Russia in Khabarovsk region against the representatives of the regional branch of the "Union of Russian People" Paul Onoprienko and Victor Chulkin.
Additionally, Chulkin and Onoprienko are being accused of the crimes under the Articles 281 and 282 of the Criminal Code ("Creation of an extremist community, participation in an extremist community" and "Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity"). The case was brought by the investigative department of the Prosecutor's Office of Russia in Khabarovsk region and also referred to the Court of the Central District. The press service noted that several extremist statements by Onoprienko and Chulkin at the meetings of adherents were able to incite hatred or hostility, to humiliate the individual groups of citizens on grounds of nationality or attitude to religion.
In addition, Onoprienko and Chulkin organized the publication and distribution in Khabarovsk of the "Chernosotennaya" newspaper, the materials in which were recognized as able to stir up inter-ethnic discord. Currently Onoprienko has given a written undertaking not to leave the country, and Chulkin has escaped and put on the wanted list.
