Community Shocked at Greek Neo-Nazi Acquittal
29.03.2009
The Jewish Community of Greece is shocked at the decision of the Athens Court of Appeal, which acquitted the anti-Semitic writer, neo-Nazi Kostas Plevris, previously charged with inciting ethnic strife.
In 2007, Kostas Plevris was sentenced to 14 months in prison for publishing his "scientific" work "Jews: The Whole Truth", which immediately took its rightful place on the shelf of classic anti-Semitic libel.
The judge in Athens had no doubts that by denying the facts of the Holocaust and describing Jews as "representatives of the lower race" and "dangerous enemies of the humanity," Plevris did not discover anything new, but continued the Nazi traditions, inciting and spreading hatred against Jews.
Last week, 5 members of the Court of Appeals shocked the Jewish community by fully justifying Plevris and defining the ravings of the chronic anti-Semite as "scientific research work."
The President of the Greek Jewish community Moses Constantinis said that to express the resentment of the Greek Jews, the Jewish umbrella body has decided not to be represented at the European symposium "Building Together the Future of Europe" which will be held next Monday in Brussels, "given that theoretical analysis and statements made by Greek MEPs on the denunciation and condemnation of anti-Semitism are meaningless."
