"Israel: from past to future": a photo exhibition by "Novye Izvestiya" designer
14.04.2009
In "FotoSojuz" Moscow gallery, an exhibition of photographs by Maxim Shamota has opened recently, called "Israel: from Past to Future." The exhibition consists of forty photographs, which send us into the heart of the Holy Land, Jerusalem, to try to unravel the Jewish soul. Sketches and portraits by Maxim Shamota are an attempt to see the country from the inside: an old Jew who has been living, as it would seem, since the time of Abraham; a boy walking down the stairs in the shadow of the ancient walls of the Holy City; a grinder, a shopkeeper... A student of the famous photographers Vladimir Kupriyanov and Alexander Zabrin, Maxim Shamota graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. His works were published in many periodicals, including the Ogonek magazine. A designer of Novye Izvestiya ("Recent News") publishing house, in different years he participated in the Youth Union exhibitions of artists, showing both paintings and photographs. Since 2006, Maxim Shamota is a member of the Union of Photographers of Russia, as well as winner of various photographic prizes. The exhibition will run until April 25.
