25.04.2009
Of the 200 participants in the international literary competition devoted to the 200th anniversary of the Russian classic, two Israelis are among the winners.
This week in the Austrian capital, the results of the international literary contest on the 200th anniversary of the Russian classic Nikolai Gogol were declared. The participants had to submit to the jury "creative works in Russian in prose or verse in the framework of Gogol's themes." More than 200 applications to participate were received from different countries, over 20 of which - from Israel. 127 works were admitted, after careful selection, to the competition itself. The judging process lasted from January 20 to April 1.
As one of the founders of the contest told the IzRus i> portal, the contest was organized with the assistance of the Union of Russian-speaking writers from Austria, the "Viennese writer" magazine, the "Fellow Countryman" newspaper and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vienna.
Among the winners there were two Israelis: in the category "Small Prose" won the writer Mark Kotlyarsky (with his novel "Demoniacal"), and in the nomination "Poetry" - a Haifa poet from Ukraine Mark Lutsky, with a collection of poetry.
In May and June, they will be invited to Vienna for the awarding of diplomas, and their works will be published in foreign editions.
