02.05.2009
This summer, the teenagers from the Jewish community of Moldova for the first time got an opportunity to spend their vacations in the "Jewish Artek" abroad.
For several years now, the children from Jewish families of Moldova have been spending the summer holidays in entertaining and educational camp "Shorashim," organized by the Vaad of Ukraine together with the Jewish Agency for Israel. The camp is for children from 10 to 16 years old, that are interested in Jewish history and culture. Of course, the number of those who want to go to the camp is always larger than the number of spots.
But this summer children from Moldovan community will get a real "foreign surprise": there is an opportunity for teenagers from 10 to 15 to spend a part of the holidays in the international camp "Jewish ARTEK - 2009", which will take place from July 26 to August 6 in the traditional picturesque Gut Gnewikow , just 80 km away from Berlin.
"Jewish ARTEK" is a unique Jewish camp for Russian-speaking children from different countries, where they get acquainted with richness of world Jewish culture (theater, literature, music, painting, etc.), and the values of Jewish art.
The camp is organized by the World Congress of Russian Jewry.
Children will have an interesting and exciting program: guided tours, creative studios, participation in educational games, relay races, meeting Shabbat together, and much more.
