Seminar on Judaism Held in Almaty

Seminar on Judaism Held in Almaty

                  03.04.2012, Education

An informal educational seminar on Judaism took place in Almaty.
Over fifty young people from the Jewish community participated in this seminar. All of them came to listen to lectures about Pesach, the era of the First Temple, Tanakh structure, the Biblical period of Jewish history, and Jewish values. Seminar leader Alexander Abramovich not only managed to provide the gathering with new and interesting information, but also initiated a lively discussion. The participants of the seminar all actively asked questions, and some even became involved in a heated dispute with the lecturer.
The youngest members of the Jewish community also took an active role. The children involved in the day camp at the "Rimon" communal center took a week to prepare a Pesach play, which turned out to not only have beautiful costumes, poetry, and music, but was also interactive, and involved the audience directly on stage, allowing everyone to feel as if they were part of the action.
The seminars conducted by Alexander Abramovich have become a wonderful tradition for the Jewish community of Kazakhstan. They are regularly held in many Kazakhstan cities, and the influx of young people is steadily growing. Their main target audience is youth who are not indifferent to Jewish history and culture, who aspire to return to their Jewish roots and to comprehend Jewish wisdom more deeply. Notably, these seminars achieve all of these diverse and complex goals.
