Bashkirian Repatriates Celebrate Anniversary
13.05.2009
Israel is home to about two thousand people who have repatriated from Bashkiria. The center of the Bashkirian expatriates' community in Israel is in Haifa. It was here, in the City Office of Immigrant Absorption "Beit Ole," that ten years ago former Ufa resident Azriel Vaysman established the association of his fellow countrymen. The activists of the community have helped recent returnees, arranged meetings and concerts, celebrated holidays together. The most recent event in the expatriates' community was the organization of an Internet video conference between Haifa and Ufa.
Today, in the Great Hall of "Beit Ole," the repatriates from Bashkiria will gather again. On this day they will celebrate a decade of their organization’s existence. The celebration will begin at 5 pm with the opening of three exhibitions in the gallery: photography, art products, and painting, and then an hour later, the solemn part of the evening will begin. On Tuesday, the repatriates from Bashkiria, living in various parts of Israel - from Beer-Sheva to Kiryat Shmona – will get together in Haifa. Many of the twice fellow countrymen will be able to see each other for the first time after a long break.
