                  Jewish Book Festival in Ryazan'

                  In Ryazan' (Russia) the festival "Jews - People of the Book" was held. The event was timed to the Day of Jerusalem. The guests were members of the Jewish and other ethnic communities, students of city schools.
                  The Head of the Jewish community Ludmila Zakharova told the audience about the ancient city of Jerusalem, the history of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Hebrew alphabet, and the work of modern Torah scribes.
                  The narration was so interesting for the audience, that even the President of Armenian community, who was in a hurry for an important meeting, did not leave after the welcoming speech, but stayed to listen to the history of Kumran find.
                  Writer Minel Levin spoke about his life and work, about the recently released six-volume collection of his works, published with the support of the local administration of Ryazan' Oblast'. He read poems, glittered with humor, and was in general a festive highlight of the program.
                  In an interview with "Oka" television company, Ludmila Zakharova said that the cultural and educational activities of the Jewish community are aimed at the development of Jewish culture as part of the culture of the region.
                  "In fact, the more we learn about the traditions, history and culture of other nations, the more unified the society becomes, the richer the country, and the happier its citizens," said Lyudmila Zakharova.
