Visit of Minister Lieberman to Russia Continues

Yesterday in St. Petersburg, the Vice-Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Avigdor Lieberman met with the Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin.
As the press service of "Israel Beiteinu" reports, the Russian Premier said that Russia and Israel should seek new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. He also noted that last year the trade turnover between our countries had reached 3 billion USD, and even though there is a tendency towards a reduction of the sum, the sole reason for this is the crisis, which needs to be redirected by joint efforts. Vladimir Putin said that in a recent conversation with the President of Israel Shimon Peres, he suggested establishing a common high technology fund.
"We have long been cooperating with Israel in the field of cosmonautics, and recently interesting projects in the sphere of energy and nanotechnology have appeared," the Prime Minister of Russia stated.
Vladimir Putin told his counterpart that he was pleased to communicate with him in Russian, and expressed satisfaction that Russian-speaking repatriates in Israel have achieved such high positions.
In turn, Avigdor Lieberman said that it was impossible to brush aside the baggage of history that the former Soviet citizens have brought with them, and the contribution they have made in building the State of Israel.
In conclusion of the meeting, the Head of the Israeli Foreign Minister conveyed an invitation to Vladimir Putin from the President of Israel Shimon Peres for a visit to Israel in October this year.
Today, on Wednesday, Avigdor Lieberman will meet with the heads of the Jewish community of Russia.
