Azerbaijani Islamists Threaten Anti-Semitic Acts

The official visit of the President of Israel Shimon Peres to Baku is scheduled for June 28, but members of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA), supported by Iran, are already making statements about their intent to organize the "pickets, rallies and other protest actions" in the capital of the republic.
The motives of Islamists, sharply opposed against the visit of the Head of the Jewish state to Azerbaijan, do not sparkle with originality and are reduced to the trivial "We will be incorrectly understood by the Islamic world" and "We behave wrongly with our Palestinian brothers."
The fact that the President of Israel Shimon Peres will visit not only Azerbaijan but also such member countries of Islamic world, as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, is somehow "forgotten" by the Islamists of the republic.
Moreover, the Islamists, acting as guardians of the country, for some reason forget that the development of mutually beneficial Azerbaijani-Jewish cooperation serves the national interests of Azerbaijan.
But this is what the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Arthur Lenk reminds the citizens of the Republic in his statement, made the day before Saturday.
"The official visit of President of Israel to Azerbaijan, the program of which is extremely rich, will be of great significance for strengthening bilateral relations between our countries," said Arthur Lenk.
As for the sharp statements by Tehran about the visit of Shimon Peres to Baku, "in a way supported by the members of IPA," the Israeli diplomatic mission officials told the Jewish News agency that "the visit of the President of Israel to Azerbaijan, during which the signature of several interstate agreements is expected, is a matter which concerns only our two states."
And here it is appropriate to stress that this position is shared by the political leadership of Azerbaijan, so all anti-Semitic actions of IPA, if they occur, will be directed against the national interests of Azerbaijan as well.
