Jewish citizens of Iran condemned on accusation of "espionage for the benefit of Israel and the USA" were set free.

                  28.10.2002

The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) informs referring to the statement of the Minister of Justice of Iran, Hussein-Ali Amiry, that all Jewish citizens of Iran condemned three and a half years ago on accusation of "espionage for the benefit of Israel and the USA" were set free.
It follows from the statement of the Minister that this is the matter of conditional pre-term release. He emphasized that all condemned "can enjoy freedom if they had learnt the right lesson from the punishment". Thus it is spoken that all citizens of the country can expect indulgence from the Iranian court despite of their religious and ethnic belonging.
13 Jews have been arrested and accused of "espionage". On 25th of October 5 of "the Jewish spies" remained imprisoned.
The information about releasing all of Jews accused of espionage by Iranian authorities is not proved by other sources.
