Israel dismantles West Bank settler outpost

Police dismantled the West Bank outpost of Mitzpe Avihai near the town of Hebron Tuesday night.
The outpost had consisted for several months of just one tin shack, inhabited by several single males, but it was expanded Tuesday to include another tin shack on an adjacent hilltop to accommodate two families.
Two hundred people, including the chief rabbi of Kiryat Arba, Rabbi Dov Lior, attended a ceremony on Tuesday to mark the move.
The settlers are expected to build the outpost again on Wednesday, as is customary following their dismantlement by security forces.
The evacuation came after the far-right Youth for Israel Movement established 11 new outposts in the West Bank on Sunday and Monday.
The movement, which was formed after the disengagement from Gaza in 2005, said it was doing so as a tribute to pioneers who established 11 settlements in the northern Negev on one day in 1946, two years prior to the establishment of the State of Israel.
