Summit of presidents of Jewish communities took place in Prague.

The World Summit of Presidents of Jewish communities began its work on November 1 in Prague (Czechia). The Minister of Justice of Czechia spoke out before participants of the forum (his speech was devoted to restitution of Jewish property), and also the floor was taken by one of the leaders of American Jewish Committee John Harris. Participants of Summit continued working in specialized committees where during sessions they discussed actual problems of Jewish communities.
Besides, within the framework of the Summit there took place the separate meeting of heads of Jewish communities from countries of the former USSR. During the meeting they approved decision to initiate annual working meetings of presidents of Jewish communities from these countries. It is interesting that every year the forum will move to a new capital of this or that state. Taking into account the highest estimation of activity of Ukrainian Jewish community it was decided to hold the first meeting in April 2003 in Kiev.
