Victor Yushchenko, the leader of the block "Our Ukraine

From 7th till 10th of November the leader of the block "Our Ukraine" Victor Yushchenko has visited Israel. During four-day trip he has met the General Director of "Joint" in Eastern Ukraine Itshaak Averbuh. At a meeting they discussed the political situation in Ukraine and also building the Jewish cultural center in Babiy Yar. This information was provided by the press-service "Our Ukraine" to the Center "LEAGUE".
V.Yushchenko suggested creating in Babiy Yar "the Center of the Ukrainian tragedy which would be the monument to victims of starvation, a museum of the Holocaust and a monument to the Ukrainians who concealed Jews during the World War II". "It is impossible to forget the Holocaust, but it is necessary to commemorate 10 million victims of a genocide among Ukrainians", the leader of "Our Ukraine" has emphasized. In his opinion, the monument of Ukrainian tragedy "should be a relic for all people of Ukraine". "It is necessary to turn black pages of relations between Jews and Ukrainians. It can be done trough public discussions. The idea of the Center of the Ukrainian tragedy should become a symbol of reconciliation", has emphasized V.Yushchenko.
The offer of the leader of "Our Ukraine" has found approval among the Israeli politicians who have declared that in the nearest future the delegation of "Joint" representatives from the USA and Israel will visit Kiev to study opportunities of realizing the idea.
