Election of Richard Joel to two posts at once is "the solid mandate" for management of the educational establishment.
06.12.2002 Richard Joel, the president of "Gilel" (the Jewish fund on work with students) has been elected the rector of Eshiva University on Thursday. Eshiva Council of trustees has elected him by 35 voices pro, 1 voice con and 2 abstained. Besides, Joel has been elected the executive principal of rabbis at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, RIETS. 26 members of the seminary Council of trustees have voted pro, and two have abstained.
Rabbi Norman Lamm, whom Joel has replaced as the president of the leading institute of modern Judaic orthodoxy, will keep the post of "rosh eshva" (head) of the Theological seminary, and will also take the post of the head of the university bursary.
Eshiva press-secretary Peter Ferrera has named Joel's election to two posts at once "the solid mandate" for management of the educational establishment.
