The seminar for editors of Jewish newspapers has been organized under Moscow.

The seminar for editors of Jewish newspapers held last week in a pension "Friendship" close to Moscow Balashikh, has gathered participants from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tashkent, Baku, Alma-Ata, Novosibirsk, Bryansk, Kazan, Izhevsk, Penza and other cities. Basically, these were representatives of the newspapers released by local "Gilel" and Israeli cultural centers. The seminar has been organized with assistance of the embassy of the State of Israel.
The editions submitted at the seminar, unfortunately, did not differ much in variety and were frequently similar in structure. However, the newspaper "Nowhere - the Petersburg` pages for youth", under Leonid Gelfman`s edition, turned to be rather original edition. The newspaper is the intellectual edition, which includes a significant amount of materials of culturological character revealing life of the Jewish community.
It is possible to single out monthly literary-informational magazine "Jewish house", edited in city of Almaty (editor-in-chief Jury Koshteljuk). The magazine is similar to such well-known editions as "Aleph" and "Lehaim". It has good execution and contains material of various character: articles devoted to tradition, history, cinema, and fiction.
As for other editions, speaking about certain monotony, it is impossible to exclude from attention their specificity. As a rule, the newspapers issued by the cultural centers and "Gilel" are distributed among a narrow circle of readers and are published not too frequently. The significant part of them is allocated for advertising of various Israeli programs. The Israeli news published in these newspapers are not numerous and have rather selective character. The quite good news selection is present in "Tikitsa" - the bulletin of the Israeli cultural center of Tashkent.
However, sometimes the articles of analytical plan are also included as, for example, the newspaper "Our Israel" (the newspaper of the Israeli cultural center of Novosibirsk), "The Bulletin of Israeli cultural center of St. Petersburg". As it has already been mentioned, the significant part of them is devoted to the information about "where to go to go and, to be exact, where to study". The part of the newspaper area is allocated to "creativity of our readers", for example as in the Izhevsk newspaper "Cypress". The genre of interview is widely presented in editions, however this phenomenon is not always amplitudes: usually it is an interview with leaders of organizations, talented children, etc. In spite of the fact that "minor life" of communities, certainly, deserves journalistic attention all the same they think that reference to "famous characters" is not deprived of advantage, and it concerns not only interviews.
As for the seminar, there have place both lectures of quite deep plan and lectures deprived of any global sense. The last were revealed the basic elements of journalism and were not absolutely intended for people already editing existing editions. In particular, such lectures were conducted by Tsvi Lidar and Mark Zajchik "How to write an article" and "What is important in an article. Important or interesting".
All actions were conducted by the representative of the Israeli Embassy, Jossi Tavor, actively sharing his own journalistic experience.
