The president of Ukraine has opened the memorial to victims of the Holocaust.
13.12.2002 The memorial to victims of nazism was opened in Kharkov by the president of Ukraine. The complex is constructed in Drobitsky Yar where more than 20 thousand people, basically Jews, were shot up by invaders in December 1941 - January 1942. For this reason the Ambassador of Israel in Ukraine, Anna Azari, has taken part in opening of the memorial together with Leonid Kuchma.
The memorial bears distant resemblance to a synagogue. The lay-out of the memorial complex is designed to house populous commemoration ceremonies and the monument itself is well seen from the Kiev-Kharkov
