The program "Search of relatives" is broadcasted by "Voice of Israel".
17.12.2002 The general director of the Jewish Agency Giora Romm has visited Zionist archive to be personally present at the teamwork of representatives of the Archive and the radio station "Voice of Israel". Daily the Second channel of "Voice of Israel" broadcasts the program "Search of relatives".
The first similar broadcast took place in August 2000. E-mail of the program supervised by Jaron Etnosh and Michael Miro daily announces over a hundred references. Basically they are submitted by the aged people who survived the Catastrophe or arrived to the country as "illegal immigrants" during the period of British mandate. Not always they search for relatives - frequently their inquiries concern fellow sufferers, same lonely people they could have met in camps of displaced persons.
Former participants of the conspiracy organizations try to find comrades in arms. Some of them ask to read their announcements hoping former schoolmates or brother-soldiers who have left the country will hear them. "Special interest the listeners show to our program testifies that nearly every person in our country has an "incomplete story" referred to the period of Catastrophe, "illegal aliah", temporary repatriates camps or one of our numerous wars", says Etnosh.
From the side of the Jewish agency two girls are working in Zionist archive (instead of compulsory military service) where a lot of valuable information has accumulated during decades. In total storehouses of the Zionist archive preserve eight million various documents. Sometimes when people apply in search of their relatives, there appear amazing stories that one can not listen without tears and excitement.
