                  17.12.2002

The premiere of the performance "Wandering stars or a case in a Jewish township" has taken place in the Petersburg's theatre named after Raikin. This performance is the free interpretation of the novel "Wandering stars" and early stories of Sholom-Aleyhem ("75 thousand", "German", "The Advantageous ticket").
The author of the script and the play director is Boris Voitsekhovsky. The artist-director is Tatyana Malkova. The music used in performance is composed by Vladimir Orlov. The theatricals have been carried out by the State concert-producer center "Petersburg-concert".
According to the PR-director of "Petersburg-concert", Nikita Kirillov, "Wandering stars or a case in a Jewish township" is the melodrama filled with music and songs, flashing household humor. Scenery and dressing for the performance have been made on exact similarity with photos of Roman Vishnjak, sketches and pictures of Mark Shagal.
"Having combined novels of Sholom-Aleyhem, - Nikita Kirillov said, - we have made attempt to disclose images of the great Jewish writer, to get used to their characters, to penetrate into their culture, to live through their sorrows and pleasure. We live in the multinational state where universal human values brought by works of art help to mitigate customs, teach tolerance and good neighborhood. The performance is as much as possible approached to the atmosphere of Sholom-Aleyhem's novels by means of the prominent features of that time, mood and the dialect".
