                  Sharansky is appointed the head of the governmental commission on celebrating the 300-anniversary of Saint Petersburg.

                  The Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon, has appointed the Minister of Construction of Israeli government, Natan Sharansky, the head of the governmental commission on celebrating the 300-anniversary of Saint Petersburg.
                  At the moment Sharansky carries out meetings on formation the commission structure. They develop the program of participation of the Israeli delegation in celebrations. It includes strengthening ties with Petersburg; carrying out meetings, lectures, exhibitions; editing collections of memoirs; participation in TV and radio broadcasts; meetings with the veterans-soldiers who have been protecting the city. At the moment in Israel there are over 100 thousand former residents of Leningrad - Petersburg.
