"Foodstuffs - for the sake of progress"

The program "Foodstuffs - for the sake of progress" is being realised due to the World Jewish Organisation of Help and Consolation and its head, the Rabbi Eliezer Avtson. WJOHC together with Department of US Agriculture has organised sending 5000 tons of products to Ukraine. This stuff is intended for poor families having more than two children in the age before 16 years; for families where are invalids (children or parents); for people older than 75 years whose income is below living wage, for veterans and invalids of the World War II and of work, for pensioners whose pensions are lower than living wage, for poor lonely invalids and for incomplete families.
Under decision of the WJOHC 10% of all the charitable help will be given to Jewish communities. The rest is intended for all citizens of Ukraine requiring for support, irrespective of their nationality and religious beliefs.
The control over distribution of the humanitarian help is assigned to the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community.
The help will be rendered to physical persons (50% of delivery) and to organisations among which there are: the regional centres of social protection, shelters, children's homes, hospitals, boarding schools, the rehabilitation centres, veterans' homes, "Chernobyl" union, Eparchial administration, labour camps and also to departmental hospitals of Ukrainian railway.
So, very soon citizens of Ukraine will receive help from the WJOHC that is really necessary. But this action represents one more important thing. When relations between Ukraine and the USA became rather cool, relations between people remained the same, as they should be: human. Special gratitude for this should be said to the WJOHC and to its head, Eliezer Avtson, the person who understands needs and problems of people, living in the other state.
