24.12.2002 "Thousands of repatriates who not speaking Hebrew have not a slightest idea how to behave in extreme situation in case of beginning of military actions in the region. Such situation exists despite reports of competent departments about massed explanatory campaign held in languages of the countries of origin", the chairman of the Center of local authorities, Ady Eldar, has declared.
According to the Center of local authorities, the significant part of natives of the CIS countries, mainly aged people, remains not informed at all. People did not receive corresponding instructions neither in printed, nor aurally, and also did not get any information on this account from Russian-speaking Mass-Media.
Municipal departments of absorption in many settlements, not relaying on quickness of state structures, have started releasing their own information materials and explanatory campaign.
Meanwhile the mentioned problem has been discussed at the session of Knesset commission on aliah and absorption more than a month ago and representatives of the rear command have assured that "explanatory work is carried out in languages of the countries of origin at full speed".
"Unfortunately, it is possible to ascertain that efficiency of this work appeared to be minimal", has told Ady Eldar. "It is necessary, yet not late, to amend the situation by joined forces".
