10th International Conference of the "Bney Akiva" Movement Activists in Jerusalem.
13.01.2003 Hundreds of the "Bney Akiva" Movement activists gathered in Jerusalem for the 10th International Conference held under the slogan of solidarity with Israel: "For the Zion I will not be silent, for Jerusalem I will not be calm" (Isaiah, 62:1).
The Conference was held Jan. 7-12 and was supported by Jerusalem municipality. The Deputies of the Conference discussed the most important problems of the present day Jewish community, such as the encouragement of the repatriation to Israel and the universal support of the Jewish state by the Diaspora communities.
The Mayor of Jerusalem Ekhud Olmert, the Head of the Jewish Agency Salay Meridor, the Minister of National Infrastructure and the Head of "Mafdal" party Efi Eitham, the Minister of Tourism Rabbi Itzkhak Levi, the Chairman of the Center of Ishvas "Bney Akiva" Movement and the Knesset deputy Rabbi Haim Drukmann, and the General Secretary of the Movement Gal Grinweld participated in the opening ceremony in Jerusalem Theatre. The opening ceremony under the slogan "Called up under the Banners" was accompanied by a colorful performance showing the audience the activities of the Movement in different corners of the world.
"Bney Akiva" Movement unites about 50,000 religious young men and women from the Jewish communities of 31 countries of the world. 150 envoys of the Movement work in these countries.
