A stone plaque proving the verity of the events depicted in the Bible found on Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
14.01.2003 A stone plaque with inscriptions dating back to the times of the Jewish King Ioas has been found on Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The inscriptions speak about the Temple restoration works undertaken by Ioas more than 2700 years ago. In particular, the text tells about the king's ordering to the clergy to start collecting money for the restoration. The inscription on the stone is identical to the correspondent part from the Second Book of the Kingdoms of the Jewish Bible.
Archeological expertise has shown that the archeological find is not a tardy imitation; it does date back to the times of the First Temple. Israeli scientist Gabi Barkay has named the found relic "the most important find in the territory of Jerusalem and Israel ever since the archeological research started". Barkay has said that, as of today, the plaque is considered to be the oldest proof of the verity of the events depicted in the Bible.
Israeli Geological Institute has researched the plaque for a year and has proved the verity of the inscription.
The institute employees say that the possibility of mistake is almost excluded. The complete report on the work done by the institute will be published during the two upcoming weeks.
Ironically, the plaque was found during illegal works on Temple Mount: trying to please Muslim extremists, the employees of the Arab archeological organization wanted to destroy all the traces of the Jewish history in this place sacred to all Jews.
