                  Visit by the Israeli Vice Prime-Minister Nathan Sharansky to Russia.

                  This Embassy of Israel has informed the RIA "Novosti" that the Israeli Vice Prime-Minister Nathan Sharansky, on a work visit to Russia, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov on Friday morning in Moscow. The day before, Mr. Sharansky had said that the meeting would be dedicated to discussing numerous issues, including the cooperation between Russia and Israel in the field of scientific research, intensification of the economical cooperation between the two countries, the Middle East situation, as well as personal problems of people of double Israeli and Russian citizenship. Currently, there is no double citizenship agreement between Russian and Israel. Nevertheless, this problem is to be solved, because both nations already have considerable number of people carrying passports of both states.
                  Nathan Sharansky pointed out that it would not be his first meeting with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, proving that Israel "has very strong ties with Russia".
                  The press department of the Federation of the Jewish communities of Russia has informed the RIA "Novosti" that the Israeli Vice Prime-Minister will meet with the leaders of the Jewish communities of Moscow in the Jewish community center in Mariyina Roscha on Saturday.
                  On Thursday, Mr. Sharansky visited Saint Petersburg. Mr. Sharansky said that Israel would participate actively in the 300th anniversary of the Northern capital. A high ranking Israeli delegation will come to Saint Petersburg. Mr. Sharansky pointed out that the competition for to be included into the delegation already started.
                  Just a few days ago, Nathan Sharansky was appointed Head of the Israeli delegation for the preparation of the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg. In the city on the Neva-river, he met with the Governor of the Northern Capital, Vladimir Yakovlev, the head of the jubilee celebration programs.
