President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin on his Facebook page expressed his condolences to those who died during the Yom Kippur holiday in the German city of Halle.

“Yom Kippur is not only the greatest holiday for Jews, but also the day when, unfortunately, law enforcement authorities have to be especially vigilant. Almost every year, terrorists all around the world become more active on this day, burning with hatred of Jews,” wrote Boris Lozhkin.

On October 9, near a synagogue in Halle, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, a terrorist opened fire with automatic weapons and bombarded the Jewish cemetery and surroundings with grenades and explosives. There are dead and injured persons among random passers-by.

There could have been many more victims if the door to the synagogue was open. According to the Israeli Channel 9, a 27-year-old German named Stephan made the shot. He was recording his actions on camera and live-streamed the video on the Internet. The shooter has already been detained by the police. It is assumed that the terrorist belongs to a right-wing radical group.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already named the incident a terrorist attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He was also supported by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In solidarity with the German Jews, she visited a synagogue in Berlin.

It was earlier reported that there were two attackers, but only one attacker has been officially confirmed.

Let us recall that on October 27, 2018, in the synagogue of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), a 46-year-old American Robert Bowers committed a terrorist attack, during which 11 people were killed and 6 more were injured, among them 4 policemen.
