Anna Azari has presented "Just Persons of Peace" diplomas and medals in Ivano-Frankovsk.

                  16.02.2003

The Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel, Anna Azari, has presented "Just Persons of Peace" diplomas and medals to more than 15 inhabitants of Ivano-Frankovsk and Transcarpathian areas.
According to her, giving these awards is the most honorable mission of the State of Israel. A.Azari informed that more than 1800 Ukrainians have already been awarded for they risked their lives to rescue Jews. Participants of the ceremony devoted one minute's silence in remembrance of those just persons who have not lived till this day. Those awarded said they rescued Jews "not because of awards, but because of human Christian sympathy".
At the rewarding ceremony there were the city Chairman of Ivano-Frankovsk, Zinovy Shkutyak; the deputy heads of the region State Administration; the acting bishop of Ivano-Frankovsk diocese, Sophron the Wise, the Chief Rabbi of the western region, Vladimir Kolesnik.
