Selling of the rare 17th century Torah written on ox skins has been prevented in Moscow due to special police raid.
The "Interfax" has been informed by the Central Anti-Organized Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia that two Tajiks tried to sell the Pentateuch for USD 450,000.00.
It is thought that the Torah was smuggled from one of the CIS countries. According to experts, the approximate price of the rare book is USD 600,000.00. The sellers have been detained, the Torah has been confiscated.
